Shasta County occurs as county located in northern California, USA, in the Cascade Mountains. When of 2000 the population was 163,256. A county seat is Redding.

Shasta County is the house of Lassen Peak, Shasta Lake, and a Lassen Volcanic National Park.

History
Shasta County was one of a original counties of California, created around 1850 at the instance of statehood. Area of the county's territory were given to Siskiyou County in 1852, and to Tehama County in 1856.
